Inbox.lv is a long-standing media supporter of “Bildes”, so starting in September an active information campaign is being launched about the “Bildes 2011” festival taking place at the end of October. The festival concerts will be held at the Great Guild and the Riga Congress Centre, while from 6 to 25 October the “Spice Home” shopping centre will host the “Bildes” exhibition “Mandalas”, bringing together works from the Bildes summer camp, as well as artworks created in the autumn by musicians, musicians’ children, artists, architects, actors, photographers and journalists.
The festival will open on 16 October with a folk concert at the Great Guild. On 17 October there will be an evening of young songwriters, and on 18 October a blues concert. At the Riga Congress Centre, 27 October will feature joint projects of young bands and “Bildes” veterans, 28 October established as well as new bands, and 29 October a daytime concert for children, followed by a “Bildes” veterans’ concert in the evening.

“Inbox.lv occupies a very important place in Latvia’s cultural life – we are like a bridge between event organisers and their potential audience. Every month almost 800,000 Inbox.lv users learn about current events in music, culture and sports directly from Inbox.lv. Event organisers choose Inbox.lv as their media partner over the long term – we have built a stable circle of partners whose events we support year after year and who are grateful to us and highly appreciate our support – we always receive positive feedback and words of thanks after the event,” says Inbox.lv Head of Marketing Elizabete Piuse.
“My relationship with Inbox.lv has been very pleasant. When I came here for the first time, sitting opposite me was a typical IT person dressed in sportswear, but the conversation was very businesslike, quick and simple. He said he liked what we do at “Bildes”, so Inbox.lv would definitely provide media support to this project,” recalls “Bildes” organiser Tija Auziņa of her first acquaintance with Inbox.lv. She adds that sometimes, when approaching potential partners, you have to fill out a huge amount of paperwork and wait a long time for answers, but with Inbox.lv everything was different. “After a joint project we were glad to thank Inbox.lv, and we were even happier to see that Inbox.lv was also very pleased to receive a letter of thanks and to cooperate with us.”
“I think internet advertising makes a great deal of sense today, especially for reaching young people. This information comes to you; you do not have to go to a newspaper kiosk for it. We have been using the internet as a means of communication for more than 10 years, because it allows us both to update information promptly and to bring together a great many current events and historical materials in one place, as well as to add photo, audio and video materials,” says Tija Auziņa about the advantages of internet advertising.
“This will be the 26th year since we started organising “Bildes”. In the beginning, the main information channel was posters, which we even drew ourselves. The next stage of development was printed posters. Then came the opportunity to advertise in newspapers, including the publication of reports. Then came the time of radio and TV advertising, which was later followed by the internet. The “Bildes” festival has also lived through this entire cycle of mass communication development,” recalls Tija Auziņa. She often marvels at how people used to be able to organise festivals like this without mobile phones and the internet, whereas now it seems almost impossible.
“I will not hide that I myself use email relatively little. My staff use it more. I still write letters by hand to people close to me. Then there are no abbreviations, every word is thought through, and such letters come more from the heart and are more personal. I know how much joy I myself get from receiving such handwritten letters,” says Tija Auziņa, encouraging people not to forget handwriting in the internet age.
