Inbox.lv has significantly increased the size of outgoing email to 30Mb, considerably exceeding many competitors. Moreover, currently, in test mode, when sending emails within Inbox.lv, the size of a single message can be as much as 50Mb.
Inbox.lv Technical Director Andrejs Čelnovs specifies that these options can only be used when the Web browser is used. “If one of the email programs is used, including Microsoft Outlook, Firefox, Mail and others, the size of outgoing email will not be that large. This is also because when using email programs rather than the Web browser, the outgoing server is usually set to the internet service provider, for example, in the case of Lattelekom it is smtp.apollo.lv, and in such cases the size of outgoing email is determined not by Inbox.lv but by the internet service provider,” Andrejs Čelnovs specifies, adding that he therefore encourages using the Inbox.lv Web browser version, which, moreover, is convenient, easy to understand and to navigate.
“It must also be acknowledged that not all email service providers are ready to accept such large messages, so before sending, we encourage customers to check this and to be understanding. This may be particularly relevant when sending emails to organisations’ email addresses, where size filters are often set. If you send a large message from Inbox.lv to Inbox.lv, there will be no problems,” explains Andrejs Čelnovs.
These 30Mb are the total size of the message. It can be either one attached file or many smaller files. “It is only normal that the size is so large. Then with one email you can send a short video clip, 5 to 10 songs in MP3 format, or 10 to 15 photos in original quality,” Andrejs Čelnovs specifies.
Andrejs Čelnovs also reminds that if an Inbox.lv user wants to send larger files, they can do so using files.inbox.lv, while photos, instead of being sent, can be posted in the foto.inbox.lv gallery, and then instead of the pictures you only send the address where these pictures can be found, commented on, edited and downloaded.
