Inbox Files is a service for storing documents, archives, photos, and other files that you work with. Among the main advantages of using the file storage are the ability to store files without time limits, share them, and attach files up to 2.5 GB to emails.

Keep in mind that email services like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and others accept emails with attachments that do not exceed 25 MB in size. Inbox.lv allows users to send emails with attachments twice as large! With Inbox Files, you can save any video or photo archive (for example, from a family photoshoot) for free and immediately attach it to an email without additional uploads.

You can attach files to emails one at a time or add an entire folder at once.

You can save any file from a letter in Inbox Files simply by clicking on it with the left mouse button and selecting “Save to Inbox Files». After this operation, an icon of a paper clip will appear next to the selected file, thus indicating a successful saving. If You click on the icon of a paper clip, You will see a tool tip with a link to a directory in Inbox Files.

Attached documents from Your mail are stored in Inbox Files in a special folder named “Mail attachments.” This folder has the same functionality as any other folder, so the stored files and even entire folder can be immediately shared with friends and colleagues. However, this folder can not be deleted and renamed.

The “Mail attachments” folder is always at the bottom of the folder tree and has a special additional icon in the form of an envelope for a quick and intuitive navigation.

Several different files, sent in a letter, can be saved to Inbox Files at one time, not separately. To do this, click on «to Files» in the «Save All» menu – all the attachments of messages will be saved to the Inbox Files «Mail attachments» folder. You can can save files with any extension of up to 1.5GB to Inbox Files.

As it has been before, pictures, photos, and other attached to the letter images can be saved directly to Inbox Foto. All You have to do is to click on the file with the left mouse button and select «Save to Inbox Foto» from the proposed menu. Files are automatically saved to the “Mail attachments” folder – an icon in the form of the camera shows their successful saving. The same file if You want, can be saved both to Inbox Files, and to Inbox Foto.

Using the Inbox services for storing and sharing data has become even more convenient. Back up Your documents in Inbox Files and store Your photos in Inbox Foto. And now You can do this without leaving the mail!

We remind you that everyone registered “Inbox” user can store up to 10 GB on “Inbox Files” for free but the single file size must not exceed 1.5 GB. A file can be in any format, it can contain movies, photos, presentations, office and also documents of specialized programs.

For now in the interface of this product You still can see a clip of the old type, but this is temporary. The changes in the design of the product are coming, so the old clip soon will become only a history.

The second development, which has expanded our product, is a special filter that displays a list of all the public files in Your profile. The filter works independently from the location of the file. This implementation was done upon the request of our customers in order to make the management of files’privacy more convenient and intuitive.

We want to draw attention to one feature of this filter – if You go to the filter and move Your mouse over any of the files, then folder with this file is automatically highlighted and You can see it on the left side in the folder tree.

To control access to Your folders we’ve added a separate item named “Folder sharing” to the left panel’s menu. Once logged in, You can see list of all Your folders, their access status, size and number of files (regardless of their status) in each folder. Moreover, after clicking on any of the folders, You will see the menu, which is almost identical to the menu for the files, where You can send the folder to a friend and share the entire folder, change the access status and get the public link to that folder, open the folder and view the content, rename or delete the folder.

You can choose two types of access for Your files and folders – “allowed” (publicly available) or “denied”. When You create a new folder or upload a new file (regardless of what status You have for a folder), default access type will be set to “denied”. Remember, only You control access to Your files and folders.

If You allow access to one file – You make publicly available only this ONE file in the folder. But if You allow access to the folder – You make publicly available ALL files that are in this folder. Therefore, once You have allowed access to the folder or selected the option “Share and send”, all the files in that folder will automatically change the status of access to “allowed”.

If You want to share the entire folder at once, but do not wish to share one or several files in that folder, we recommend You to move these files to another folder or block the access to the files after sending folder/receiving download link. Your friend will get the link to the folder, but the files You’ve blocked won’t appear in the download list. Always remember, next time You choose “Share and send” option for this folder, access status to Your files will be automatically renewed to “allowed”, thus enabling public download of these files.

You can easily block access to the folder – change the access status back to “denied”. In this case, the entire folder and all files in it won’t be available for public download anymore. Your friends will receive a notification saying that the folder was either deleted or blocked for public access.

But what happens with the public files, which we shared earlier using the original method, if You change the status of the folder to the “denied”? The answer is – all files that were shared will be available for download.

When You allow public access to the folder, access status of all files in that folder automatically changes to “allowed”, but when You block public access to the folder, access status of all files in this folder doesn’t change automatically and it remains the same – “allowed”. So do not worry – if You shared only one or several files from the folder, Your friend will have the option to download these files, no matter whether the access to this folder was “allowed” or “denied”.

In the end we would like to note one of the main advantages of new possibilities – You don’t need to send the link for each file that You upload. You can share the link to the entire folder and then it’s up to You – add, rename, update Your files. Simply create, share and control Your virtual world with public files at Inbox Files!

From now on, Inbox Files + paid users have no limit on download speed. This meaning the maximum speed of direct download now depends only on the technical capabilities of your Internet connection. For a free version of Inbox Files, the limit of download speed remains the same – no more than 1 Mbps.

Continuing the story about improvements, we wanted to highlight that often our users contact our technical department and ask to rectify such a small inconvenience as accidental deletion of file distension, when renaming it. This mistake made the file broken to its host as well as to the person downloading it. In this product version we have rectified the problem at hand. Now, when renaming the file, You won’t see its distension, thereby You won’t be able to damage anything.

The listing on the main forms has been changed to first of all station the most important information about files such as name of the file, download options, changes in accessibility status (allowing access to the file or denying it) first. Further the additional information such as upload date on Inbox Files, file size and download count by other Internet users has been placed.

We want to stress that in this version the download function has been removed to more visible location – from the hidden menu on the main form as a new additional icon – a yellow folder with a green arrow. Clicking this button will lead to immediate file download.

If You share Your files with friends, don’t forget about such a nice option as picking the address from the contact list. We have adjusted the contact list sorting – everything now is depicted in alphabetical order.

In case You allow the access to a file, a notification on a blue background appears above, where the public link to this file is instantly available to You. This link You surely can copy and share it with Your friends via Skype, e-mail, publish it on forums and other Internet portals.

Let’s say, for example, You have accumulated a large amount of photographs, which You want to share with Your friends. So You start attaching five pictures to every e-mail to Your friend.
