First of all, there is the possibility to add archives. After uploading only one archive with a list of images, images are automatically extracted to the selected album. This method is useful when You want to place a large number of new photographs. However, after uploading the archive, photos will not be available immediately – they will appear gradually as the extraction and processing of the contents of the archive is performed. If the number of photos in the archive is large, the processing can take a while.

Upload via FTP is one of the oldest and proven methods of file transfer that works even through the browser! Just open a browser, enter the address FTP://foto.inbox.lv, enter your inbox.lv user name and password, and then all you need to do is to add any photos in unlimited quantities to the opened directory. Upon completion, it is obligatory to close the browser window with the added files (disconnect). In a few seconds images will be uploaded to Inbox Foto in a folder called «FTP», under the list of all the albums. After that You can transfer photos to Your album.

Photo upload is also possible via e-mail. Each album in Inbox Foto has a unique e-mail address. By sending a letter with an attached photo to this address, the image immediately gets uploaded into the selected album. E-mail address can be found in the album settings Inbox Foto.

Significant changes in the latest update have affected the viewing page of the selected images in the album – the information has been grouped into two top menu items: “Edit” and “Preferences”. Also, a special place was designated for effects.

By default, applicable effects are now hidden under the title “Effects.” A unified design was applied for all effects’ windows.

The most popular actions for photos, such as a “slide show”, “send a photo to a friend”, “send to print” and “add to favorites”, have been allocated to individual icons.

Under the photo, as before, are the author’s description of the photo, comments of other users, as well as data on the number of views, the original file name and other useful information. You can vote with the green button “Like”.

When viewing any photo, a panel with a list of all the photos in this album will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

The new Inbox Foto version features some improvements in the product. We have fixed the work process of “Download original” option. Now the action offers to download the original picture without the applied effects. Also, the processing speed of archived files and FTP-uploaded files was increased.

Design changes affected the following pages: “Favorites”, “Print orders,” new photos’ upload fields and pages with saved mail attachments.

• Each album has three new tabs on the right side:

- blue – shows the number of photos in the album;
- green envelope with the icon – provides an opportunity to share the album with friends;
- green icon with a plus sign – allows You to quickly add new photos and videos to Your album.

• Additional albums – “Bookmarks”, “Mail Attachments”, “FTP” and “Print history” are now located at the bottom of the page.

• Link to the album access level now leads to a page with all the settings of the album, including: the name and description of the album, access control, background change, album deletion. You can also view e-mail address of the selected album, which is used to quickly add new photos via e-mail to this album.

Design changes have also affected viewing page in an album:

• Additional control panel for working with photos in the album was introduced. All the basic functionality is now grouped into two new menu items: “Edit” and “Options”.

• Option to change the album cover by choosing the photo and selecting the check box titled “Set as cover” in the “Edit” section.

• Following icons were moved in the upper left corner: “Slide Show”, “Send album to a friends”, “Send to Print”.

• At the bottom of the page, You can change the sort order of photos in an album, or use the manual sorting in the “Options” menu.

• Public categories’ section has a new separate page now. (http://foto.inbox.lv/controller/category). You can access the category via link provided at the top of every public picture.

As before, Inbox Foto offers editing tools for experienced and novice photographers, fast printing of photos, use of effects, as well as 10 GB of free space to store video and photos.

Even before “Inbox Foto” was very convenient and practical tool for image and gallery archiving, photo editing, effect use. That gave the user the ability to share photos and galleries of 10 GB at any time and free of charge. Now the rich content of “Inbox Foto” has become even easier to browse and assess.

“Inbox Foto” editor’s mission is to select and highlight the best photos – the ones that till now have been concealed in depths of “Inbox Foto”, as well as the recently installed. “Editor’s Choice” photos are being renewed daily.

• Best photos

“Inbox Foto” best picture top is created based on audience ratings – those photos that collect the most “Likes” will be proudly placed on the first page of the portal. Looking at publicly accessible photos, anyone authorized “Inbox” user can vote for it with “Like”. For each photo user will be able to vote with “Like” only once, as well as this “Like” can be revoked if the user suddenly changed their mind about the picture.

• New photos and videos

On the “Inbox Foto” first page now is possible to see the section, in which the most recent downloaded pictures and videos are placed. News section is constantly being updated and all the photos in it are submitted to the pre-moderation, that means that Inbox Photo editor keeps track of photos to match the content to the ethical norms.

• Editor’s choice – welcome to the world of photographers’ art.

For all the time Inbox Foto exists, our users have uploaded a lot of public pictures – beautiful landscapes, panoramas of cities around the world, exclusive moments from everyday life, professional macro, nature, animals, art, and much more. The mission of our Editor is to select the best works hidden in the depths of Inbox Foto and display them in this section. Editor’s list is updated daily.

• Best photos – users’ choice, aka Top Like.

This photos’ and videos’ top is based on the results of Inbox Foto users’ reviews. While viewing public photos, vote for Your favorite author’s works. Photos with the highest number of «Like” marks will be placed on the front page of the portal.
Also, for convenience, our voting system has been simplified. For each photo You can set only one “Like” (if You like the photo) or remove it (if your opinion has changed).

• New photos and videos – the latest publications from our users.

This top has been redesigned in the new version of Inbox Foto. List of users, who have added their latest pictures, was replaced by a separate section with all the downloaded pictures and videos sorted by date added. This gallery is available on the first page of Inbox Foto.

• Contests – participate, vote, and win!

In the new version of the design, a special place was given to the competitions, which Inbox Foto conducts frequently. Now information about the ongoing, new and past competitions can always be found on the first page of the portal. It should be noted that the topics selected for the competitions are simple and interesting – participation is possible for everyone!

Inbox Foto, as always, offers experienced and novice photographers photo printing services, editing tools, effects, and 10 GB of free space to store video and photos with the ability to share them with friends and family at any time.

In this regard, the process of order registration has changed a little bit. Earlier You’ve completed one step order form (with single method for pre-payment), and confirmed it; now You have to fill in and confirm all the necessary information for the order in the beginning, and then go directly to the selection of the desirable payment method. When You move to the selection of payment method, You can choose one method from four available, with the final amount to be paid listed next to each method.

These changes become possible by the successful integration of our new project Inbox Payment – the payment system on the Internet, which controls the receipt and processing of payments. This system is currently used not only for the paid services on Inbox.lv, but it is also offered to third parties, partners. Remember that the cost of one photo printing is 0.09 Ls. But if You print more than 50 photos, one photo will cost as low as 0.07 Ls. Now, when You view the photos of other users, in addition to the standard set of sorting for photos, You can use a new sorting with the title “Mine”. After choosing this type of sorting photos will be arranged in the sequence in which the album owner wants to present them. This can be useful for those who want to present their portfolio or reportage shooting from any location under a certain angle.

This option is available for everyone. To select manual sorting, open the album and select “Sorting” from the top menu. After clicking on the “Sorting” button, dialog box appears with the photos included in this album. In this window, use Your mouse to drag and put Your photos in order to achieve the necessary arrangement of Your photos. When You’re done, don’t forget to click on the “Save” button, located below the lowest row of photos.

You can see the result of your work by selecting “Mine” from the sorting list. In turn, other users will see name of this sorting as the “Author”.

Autofocus when You’re viewing photos. Now, when You open the page with a photo, picture will be focused automatically. This is especially useful for owners of small screens.

Album download – our top of the milk. Users now can download the entire album by clicking on the menu. Album is downloaded as aZIP format archive. The default name for the archive is the name of Your album at Inbox Foto.

Videos on iOS – earlier, users of Apple mobile devices weren’t able to view the videos, because of the lack of Adobe Flash. Now, in case if the device doesn’t support Flash, the video will be played using the HTML5.

New effects – photo editing effects have newcomers. We’ve added two new effects: “noise reduction” and “sepia”. Well, if “noise reduction” says it all from the title, then “sepia” can be a little tricky. This effect creates the illusion of old, faded photographs. At the left You can see the original, then the black and white version, then the photo edited with the effect of “sepia”. For example:

Since the list of available effects has recently significantly expanded, the menu location for the photo was changed a little bit. Effects were divided from other basic functions and moved to a separate visual unit.

Presentation of the voting results. This item will be of interest primarily to those, who share photos with other users of our service. Now You will have the full view of the voting statistics for Your photo. At the bottom of each photo You can see the number of votes sorted by “likes” and “dislikes”.

We’ve also changed printing of the photos. Now, user receives a notification every time the status of the order is changed, i.e., when an order was received for processing or when it is finished. To our great regret, we had to abandon the method of payment in cash when ordering prints, now there is only payment using Swedbank online banking, but we plan to connect online payment through other banks, as well as payment cards, very soon.

Finally, we want to note such pleasant trifle as opening public albums in new tabs by pressing the right mouse button. Frankly, we missed it a lot.

What to expect in future? For now we can only say that the next version will have the “author sorting.” This feature should be interesting for photographers and models, because album owner will not only arrange the pictures in the right order, but also show the pictures to the viewers in this exact order.

Particular features of Inbox Foto are its functionality and simplicity – everything is easy and understandable. We constantly are improving this section and recently we have released new version of this product.

Total amount of improvements and innovations is more than 20, but we would like to go through the main points that will be interesting as for our experienced users and also for the new ones.

1. Seriously improved mechanism of photo upload, that helps to upload more photos for the same period of time. The list of files formats was added that could be stored on Inbox Foto – on the moment, for example, saving of archives is also possible.
2. Effect amount is increased? Using these effects You can process and improve the look of Your photography. Recently were added possibilities to change brightness, contrast and saturation of photo. Using saturation effect You can turn any of Your photo into black and white and it means that photo will become more artistic.
3. Old effects are also available as well, such as red eye filter, improvement of the quality of photo, cropping and rotation. Pay Your attention that not only rotation is possible on any angle, but also mirror rotation of the photo. Do not be afraid to use the effects in Your experiments with photos! Remember, You can always restore the original image.
4. Photo download system is improved – now it is simple and faster, with just on click.
