IMAP access for Mail+ users

October 25,2013

Inbox.lv offers IMAP access for paid service Mail+ users.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is the e-mail access protocol, which is an enhanced alternative to POP3. The main difference of IMAP from POP3 is teh absence of neccessity to download all the e-mails on Your computer. If you are using IMAP, then the mail processing – search, folder creation, sorting , labeling messages, reading sent e-mails and drafts, and more – takes place on the server.

This enables You to work with Your mail from different devices, including mobile – all changes are available immediately in all client applications, adding https://email.inbox.lv. portal as well.

In addition, e-mail clients generally work more stable with IMAP, rather than with POP3. If you are using the POP3 protocol, messages often get lost or downloaded once again. This does not occur with IMAP due to the two-way synchronization between Your mail client and inbox.lv server.

Each protocol has its advantages and disadvantages, but inbox.lv team recommends that you use IMAP. Detailed information about configuration of IMAP is available in the “Help” section. In this section You can also find an example of a IMAP protocol configuration for MS Outlook e-mail client. In case You have any questions, please write to support@inbox.lv.
